Influential women’s organization joins a growing roster of prominent Californians supporting Kounalakis’ bid for Lt. Governor

San Francisco – Today, the California Women’s List formally endorsed Eleni Kounalakis for Lieutenant Governor. In their statement, they praised Eleni’s commitment to affordable education, healthcare access and gender equity.

"Eleni Kounalakis is the right choice for California's next Lieutenant Governor and California Women's List is proud to endorse her candidacy,” said Elise Weinberg, board member of the California Women's List. “Eleni is building the kind of bottom-up campaign that's engaging women of all ages up and down the state. California needs leaders like Eleni right now who are not beholden to corporate interests and who will fight for what is right. She is qualified, hardworking and determined to fight for economic security, gender and racial equality, affordable child care, reproductive freedom and the issues critical to our state's future. "

“I am thrilled to receive the endorsement of the California Women’s List,” said Kounalakis. “As we watch the #WeSaidEnough campaign gain steam every day, it is clear that the long-term solution is to have more women in office, and more women in leadership roles inside our state Capitol. CWL's work supporting female candidates is critical to increasing representation in our state government.

“I am running to be the first woman elected California Lieutenant Governor, and I’ll fight tirelessly for policies which grow our economy, and make sure it works better for everyone. As your Lieutenant Governor, I will help lead California towards a better, stronger future.”

Kounalakis comes armed with a growing list of endorsements from prominent Democratic elected officials, like U.S. Senator Kamala Harris, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs, Representatives Anna Eshoo, Doris Matsui, and Mike Thompson, former State Senator Mark Leno, and Sacramento Assemblymember Kevin McCarty.
