Kounalakis fulfills campaign promise to visit all 58 counties in California.
San Francisco – Over the weekend, Lt. Governor candidate Eleni Kounalakis completed her tour of all 58 counties in California. She made a pledge to visit each county to meet with voters and learn about the most important issues across the state. On the last leg of the tour, she met with San Benito County Democratic Central Committee members and the Monterey Young Democrats.
“When I kicked off my campaign for Lt. Governor in June, I promised that I would visit all 58 counties of the state before the end of the year,” said Kounalakis. “It has been the highlight of this campaign so far to have met so many hardworking Californians from every corner of the state - to hear what matters to them, to shape policy around their concerns, and to understand what drives the economy of each region of our state. I look forward to representing all Californians when I am Lt. Governor and will work to ensure everyone has the opportunity to succeed and thrive in our great state.”
During her tour, Kounalakis met with local activists, elected officials and community leaders to gain insights into each county of California. Along the way, she spoke to several democratic clubs and toured universities and historic sites throughout state including CSU Humboldt, UC Riverside, Crescent City Harbor, and Joss House Historic Park.
Kounalakis's campaign continues to pick up steam with a growing list of endorsements from prominent Democratic elected officials and organizations, like U.S. Senator Kamala Harris, Equality California, the California Federation of Teachers, EMILY’s List, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg, Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, Stockton Mayor Michael Tubbs, Representatives Nanette Barragan, Anna Eshoo, Doris Matsui, Jimmy Panetta, and Mike Thompson, former State Senator Mark Leno, Sacramento Assembly members Blanca Rubio and Kevin McCarty, CA Women’s List, and the Fresno, Marin, and Ventura County Young Democrats.

Prior to serving our country in the diplomatic corps, she was president of AKT Development Corporation in Sacramento, where she grew up. She is a graduate of the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and Dartmouth College. She and her husband, Markos, live in San Francisco where they are raising their two teenage sons.
